Step 1 - Mapping Software.
A common program used is Oziexplorer.
Step 2 - Base Data
Download Data for maps. GeoGratis has topographic and satellite imagery available for download.
Step 3 - Import Base Data
Open the data using Oziexplorer. Specific data sets contain GeoTiff images which are imported in to Oziexplorer without the need for calibrating the map. Other images need calibration in Oziexplorer for a spatial reference.
Step 4 - Import User Data
Add your shapefiles and points to the map for your specific trails of campsites. Data is also available from here.
Step 5 - Trip Planning
Print the map. Data in Oziexplorer can be used for planning routes.
