The Falls Fire Tower trail begins in the creek valley east of Hummingbird Falls on the south ram river road. The trail begins at the gated end to vehicle access on the south ram river road, and beginning of the Onion Lake Trail. The Falls Fire Lookout trail follows the rocky creek bed to the north up the valley. The first kilometer of the trail is commonly used be horses, and the trail is clearly visible. Approx 1 km from a trail head is a small campsite. The trail continues north beyond the camp, but this is as far as horses will go. The trail at best is a small path and is very hard to distinguish in the rocky creek bed. Continuing following the valley up stream as it gains elevation if you lose the trail. The creek valley has two valleys that merge in to the main creek valley as you approach the headwaters of the creek. From here, begin the scramble to the east up to the tower. There is no trail from this point, so the actual route will depend on how technical you want to make the scramble. The easiest route is to side slope behind the tower and summit the ridge to the north. Once on top of the ridge you can follow it south to the fire tower. The site is an active fire tower for the area, and from May – September it's common to meet someone at work. According to the person at the tower, very few people make the climb each year. Visitors are a rare occurrence due to the remote location. The summit provides spectacular views in all directions.
A second route to the tower begins with a scramble on the ridge directly south of Hummingbird Creek Trail Rides. The trail begins just off the Onion Lake trail and is a highly technical scramble near the top. The trail is only visible to tree line, from there you are on your own to navigate the ridge. This route is not recommended.
